New program saves on prescription drugs

A new program is helping Kentuckians save money on prescription drugs and other health supplies. The discount drug card program called Kentucky RX Card is being launched Thursday.

The program is free to all Kentucky residents and will provide savings of up to 75% on prescription drugs. There are no restrictions to membership, no income requirements, no age limitations, and you don't have to fill out an application.

District 13 Metro Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch says, "You sign your name, your ID number is your phone number, and that's it." You take this card to the pharmacy and use it. You can use it along with your insurance."

The Kentucky Rx card is accepted at 50,000 pharmacy locations across the country.
